One of the most rewarding ways to experience Prescott-Russell is to step onto a farm and see where food and flowers are grown. Throughout the seasons, local farms invite you to wander through orchards, stroll among fragrant lavender, and fill baskets with berries, apples and other fresh harvests. It's a chance to slow down, enjoy the countryside and create memories that are rooted in the rhythms of rural life.
Many of these experiences are seasonal and depend on weather and growing conditions, so be sure to check individual websites and social media channels before your visit to see what's in season and what activities are available.
- Canaan Blueberries: Pick your own blueberries in late July and buy honey at this farm on the southwestern edge of Clarence-Rockland.
- Domaine Cléroux: Seven varieties of apples grow in this pick-your-own Casselman orchard. Enjoy a light meal on the spacious patio, and pick up apples, maple syrup and more in the farm shop.
- Ferme Dagenais: As well as picking your own apples, you can buy local meat, eggs and honey at the organic health food store at this Embrun farm.
- Duquette Strawberries: Pick your own strawberries and pumpkins, and buy honey and pre-picked corn, at this Clarence Creek farm.
- Les Fruits du Poirier: You can pick a wide range of fruits and vegetables on this St-Eugène farm, including (depending on the season), haskap berries, Saskatoon berries, raspberries, blackberries, currants, grapes, mini kiwis, apples, pears and plums. Guided tours of the farm are available on summer weekends; check the farm’s website for dates.
- Les Jardins Écologistes Grégoire: Located in St-Eugène, this farm invites visitors to walk through its fields of lavender and Russian sage. As well as botanical products, you can buy the farm’s meats in the onsite shop.
- Lavender Boutique Farm: At this farm in Chute-à-Blondeau, you can stroll among the lavender plants and buy lavender products in the farm store.
- Les Vergers Villeneuve and Blueberry Farm: As well as picking your own blueberries, raspberries, cherries, apples and pears (depending on the season), you can also taste the Clarence-Rockland farm’s fruit wines, paired with local cheese and charcuterie.
Picking your own fruit, gathering a bouquet of lavender or simply walking through the fields offers a deeper appreciation for the care and hard work that goes into every harvest. You may leave with fresh produce and local products in hand, but you'll also take home a better understanding of the farms and families that help shape the landscapes and flavours of Prescott & Russell.
