Since 1844, City Hall has been the symbolic centre of the community’s civic government and administration. The Tett is a true arts hub. Not only is it home to nine arts organizations, eight Creativity Studio Artists, but it also includes a variety of rental spaces.[ **The Tett Centre**](https://www.tettcentre.org/) originally formed part of the Morton Brewery and Distillery Company, which was built in the mid-19th century and renovated but the city five years ago.

This is a favourite[ **Kingston**](https://www.southeasternontario.ca/destinations/kingston/) spot for hiking and cycling – but also for bird watching! Many species of resident and migratory birds can be seen in the area. Be sure to also look for the stone beach at the north end of the area!

Unwind and enjoy a hot summer’s day by taking a dip in the water along the[ **Kingston**](https://www.southeasternontario.ca/destinations/kingston/) shoreline – or paddling among the waves! Hit the road on two wheels to take in the waterfront views in[ **Kingston**](https://www.southeasternontario.ca/destinations/kingston/) face-to-face.[ **Kingston**](https://www.southeasternontario.ca/destinations/kingston/) offers museums, historic military landmarks, and a vibrant downtown filled with great pubs and restaurants all along its waterfront. **With a route that’s primarily on-road and lake-front**, Kingston is a wonderful place to pedal to your heart’s content. It’s recognized as a scenic spot along the[ **Waterfront Trail**](https://waterfronttrail.org/places/communities/kingston/) (and is even home to one of the steepest hills by Fort Henry along the entire route)! This city is cycle-friendly and the water views are divine.

One example is pedestrian-only[ **Rochleau Court**](https://www.visitkingston.ca/film-media/historic-downtown/), with narrow walkways, stone-walled alleys, and historic businesses dating back to the 1800s. Several restaurants have their courtyards adjoining the alleyway to give it a real old-world vibe. It’s also known to be the most haunted alleyway in Kingston, with regular ghost sounds and sightings, attributed to the ghost of Theresa Beam who met an untimely death in the alley in the 1860s.

The house itself is currently closed for restoration work, but the gardens remain open.
